PLAY BALL!

When summer arrives people across America flock to stadiums in every metro area across the nation to be part of the uniquely American sport - baseball. Millions of people turn out to support their favorite teams, listen to their games on the radio, and even buy special sports programming packages from their cable and satellite TV providers so they can follow their teams wherever they may be playing.

During the summer of 2008 the Scott Dawson Evangelistic Association teamed with four minor league baseball organizations to help them bring record crowds into their ballparks, expose their communities to the family fun that baseball can provide, and more importantly, to reach into each of those communities with the life-changing Gospel of Jesus Christ. As a result 528 people made decisions for Christ, and many others were exposed to truth that will change their lives.

SDEA had the privilege of taking the Gospel message to Oklahoma City, OK; New Britain, CT; Jacksonville, FL; and Mobile, AL.

The 2008 Safe at Home season began in Oklahoma City where SDEA teamed up with the Oklahoma Redhawks organization. The April 6 baseball game proved to be a record-breaking day at AT&T Bricktown Ballpark where more than 13,000 people passed through the gates and over a thousand more were turned away.

Even though the Redhawks lost the game to the Memphis Redbirds, the real victory was found in the 215 people who responded to the Gospel message making first-time decisions for Christ. There were 55 others who made decisions, resulting in 270 lives who are now “Safe at Home” in their relationships with Christ. To celebrate this eternal success, Jeremy Camp performed a concert for those in attendance.
