And there's more!

As is evident, not all of the victories were won on the fields of play. We also witnessed miracles happening among the people who came to work at each event:

“For each Safe at Home event I hire contract labor to help load and unload our sound and stage equipment. I tell them that in addition to unloading and setting up our equipment in the parking lot I will need them on the field with me when the event starts. They are all in the dugout and listen to Scott’s entire message. At every event we did this year, Oklahoma City, New Britain, Jacksonville and Mobile some of these guys have accepted Christ as their Savior. In Mobile not only one of the men but also his girlfriend, who came to pick him up, made a decision as well. This area of the event has kind of become my personal area of ministry for Safe at Home. The event is evangelistic before we ever make it to the field.” - Mike Greer, SDEA Director of Operations

Pastor Art Burroughs, from Fulton Road Baptist Church in Mobile, shared this story with us about how Safe at Home changed the lives of a man and his two sons:

Art Burroughs, pastor of Fulton Road Baptist Church in Mobile, said he has known Steve Lowe and his wife for nine years. The couple is enrolled in his Sunday School class. While Mrs. Lowe has been fairly active, her husband, Steve, only attends church onces or twice a year. Art said Mrs. Lowe gave Safe at Home vouchers to her husband after explaining the event and the church’s support of Safe at Home. Steve not only attended the game, he also took his two sons with him. They spoke to Pastor Burroughs before the game. As Scott began to speak, Art said he looked for the Lowes, but he did not see them and assumed they had gone home. As Art came forward at the invitation as an encourager, he felt a tap on his back. When he turned, he saw Steve standing there Art asked if he had brought his sons forward, and Steve replied that he was walking them down, but that he needed to come, too. Art said, “I had the privilege of leading him to Jesus after all these years. We have tried for years to reach him at the church, his home, and in Sunday School, but he was reached at a baseball game thanks to Safe at Home.”

These stories reveal the essence of Safe at Home – to reach people where they are at with the life-changing message of Jesus Christ. The Lord has blessed the efforts of these events as He allowed us to witness more than 500 people make decisions for Him, an impact only He could have on the lives of so many.
