An official stadium attendance count of 5,383 (6,000 capacity) attended this season's final Safe at Home in Mobile's Hank Aaron Stadium. The day itself was an answer to prayer with no rain and an 8 1/2 inning game (after the past two games had 14 and 15 inning games). After the home team was victorious 7-0, the Safe at Home event featured a collection of guests that were Mobile area favorite sons and daughters who grew up in Mobile, moved away and had recently returned to their home town.

  • Alicia Williamson who has been featured with the Gaithers, taught music at Liberty University and has returned to Mobile with her family only 2 weeks ago opened the event with two songs.
  • Turner Ward grew up playing high school and college baseball locally returned this season to the Mobile BayBears as a Hitting Coach, after 12 years playing Major League Baseball and coaching in the Pirates organization, shared of his personal realtionship with Christ and prepared the audience to hear how they too could learn of a relationship with Christ through Scott Dawson's presentation of the Gospel.
  • Nathan McDuffy lead the Mt. Hebron Praise and Worship Team.
  • Big Daddy Weave, nationally know recording artist, formed while locally attending college at the University of Mobile and was a crowd favorite performing a concert to conclude the evening.

As Scott issued an invitation for individuals to make personal commitments to Christ, 115 people came forward (71 for the first time) and met with counselors prepared to introduce them to a Bible study book designed to help them understand their decision and give them some basic understanding of walking with Christ. One of the many stories from the day was from a counselor who had been praying for a friend for years and invited that friend to attend Safe at Home with him. His friend did attend and went forward making a commitment to Christ...along with his two sons who made the same commitment. This friend's prayer was answered above and beyoned what he had ever imagined.

Thanks to all who made the day possible and especially the partnership of all the churches and organizations making up the Gulf Coast Christian Evangelistic Association.
