Dear Friends,
We wanted to take the time and thank everyone personally for a job well done with Safe At Home. It was truly an unbelievable day at the AT&T Bricktown Ballpark. God moved in so many ways that it was difficult to keep track.
In a week when storms abounded the good Lord smiled upon us and gave us 73 degrees and blue skies. The weather could not have been any more perfect. The gates opened promptly at 3:05pm and the fans began to make their way into the stadium. In fact, attendance quickly grew to be a record setting 13,000 plus crowd. The crowd became so overwhelming that the RedHawks have already asked us to consider coming back again next year!
Unfortunately, the RedHawks couldn’t quite pull the game out and lost to the Memphis Redbirds. In dramatic fashion, as soon as the last out occurred the Safe At Home staff and crew of volunteers stormed the field and began setting up the stage and sound system. David Patterson of the OK RedHawks said, “It’s one of the most incredible setups I’ve ever seen.” Within moments we had live sound from the field and Mayor Mick Cornett was on stage to welcome everyone and to introduce Kevin Derryberry. Kevin opened up in song and set the stage for Scott Dawson to share the Gospel. The spirit of God was moving throughout the stadium. When the invitation was presented 270 people made commitments to Christ and 215 did so for the first time! This doesn’t include the many that where still in the stands. Truly every life in the stadium on April 6th was moved in some way. Immediately following the invitation, Jeremy Camp took the stage in celebration of Christ and the decisions that were made. It was truly a miraculous evening.
